Now that you have finished the book, we have started to reflect on the quality of life of our protagonists, and how living as underprivileged men with no true home to call their own has shaped their character (for the better or worse). Many of these men that we have read about are also handicapped in some way, and can't be anything better than they are, because of how they feel about themselves. Using the following links as sources for information, I want you to write an essay on how we, as 21st century citizens, can proactively influence our community to change, so as to rectify any negative aspects of our environment, whether it be the physical setting of our community, or the stereotypical (or superficial) ideologies that we holistically share. REMEMBER: nothing is too big or too small, especially if we work as a community. These are just preliminary ideas. Respond to this post in the comments section with some of your preliminary ideas, and before you start the essay, we will have an in-class discussion as to the feasibility, practicality, and potential result of your suggestions.
